Easter Egg Hunt
On April 8th, celebrate Easter with an Easter Egg Hunt in Surf City at the Community Center Athletic Fields. This free event is a fun-filled Saturday with six different age groups hunting at three other times throughout the day. Be sure to arrive early, and don’t forget your basket!
Birdwatching
Spring is an excellent time for birdwatching on Topsail Island. You can see migratory birds like the Black Skimmer, the Piping Plover, and the American Oystercatcher. And if you go at the right time, you may even catch some of their cute babies, who are always fun to watch.
Pirates Treasure Hunt Hike
If your kids love pirates, they will have a ball hunting for treasure on the Pirates Treasure Hunt Hike. Join the group at 11:00 am on April 29th at Soundside Park for pirate treasure hunting and fun! Bring your own lunch and eat lunch with the pirates at noon! It’s free for the whole family and sure to thrill your kids.
Enjoy The Local Seafood
Topsail Island has many excellent seafood restaurants that serve fresh, local seafood. Spring is a great time to enjoy shrimp, grits, crab cakes, and fish tacos. Two favorite local restaurants worth trying are Sears Landing Grill & Boat, which sits on the water, and Shuckin’ Shack. Both have excellent fresh seafood and rave reviews from locals and visitors alike.
Go Golfing
The island and mainland have several golf courses that are open year-round. Golfing in the spring is a great way to enjoy the mild weather and beautiful scenery. A few golf courses you might like are North Shore Country Club, Olde Point Country Club, or Castle Bay Country Club.
Try Retro Putt-Putt Golf
If you want something a little more playful for you or the kids, Patio Playground is the only putt-putt golf on the island and the only one you need! They have original 1955 retro putt-putt golf, ice cream, movie rentals, and an air-conditioned arcade. On Friday nights, you can enjoy a DJ dance party while you golf. It’s loads of fun and definitely worth a visit!
Beachcombing
Topsail Island has 26 miles of beautiful beaches, making it a perfect place for beachcombing. You can collect seashells, sea glass, and other treasures that have washed up on the shore. You may even find some shark teeth, which is always pretty exciting because they’re rarer.
