The Best Snacks to Enjoy on the Beach

The Best Snacks to Enjoy on the Beach

There is something about a day at the beach that makes stomachs growl like crazy!

Playing in the waves, laying in the sun, and running around in the sand can really work up an appetite. It's important to pack plenty of drinks and snacks when you are headed to the beach, especially when children are involved. Today we are going to give you a quick list of some of our favorite beach snacks.

Even adults get excited about indulging in some fun food that they normally wouldn't have at home, like crunchy chips, gummy candy, or delicious ice cream. Snacks & treats make a good vacation GREAT!

 Healthy Beach Snacks

It's important to include healthy treats in your arsenal of beach snacks.

After all, these foods tend to be hydrating, refreshing, and won't completely ruin dinner.

Here are a few healthy beach snacks to try on your next vacation:

  • Grapes (try them frozen)
  • Watermelon cubes
  • Apple slices
  • Mandarin oranges
  • Pineapple
  • Mango
  • Frozen banana
  • Grape tomatoes
  • Baby carrots
  • Red pepper slices
  • Cucumbers
  • Broccoli
  • Hummus Dip
  • Ranch Dip
  • Trail Mix
  • Nuts
  • Granola bars
  • Turkey & cheese pinwheels
  • Peanut butter & jelly
  • Cheese sticks
  • Applesauce
  • Popcorn

Yummy Beach Treats

It's vacation.

It's ok to buy some delicious and not-so-good-for-you treats that your kids are begging for when you hit the store.

Here are some of our favorites that will make everyone happy!

  • Tortilla chips
  • Nacho chips
  • Potato chips
  • Cheetos
  • Pretzels
  • Gummies
  • Cookies
  • Crackers
  • Rice Krispie Treats
  • Donuts
  • Twizzlers

In general, we don't recommend bringing chocolate to the beach. It melts too easily! Save it for the vacation rental. Also, make sure you have plenty of wet wipes and hand sanitizer on hand... some of these snacks get messy. One last tip: freeze as many of these items as you can. They will last longer in the cooler.

Don't forget a trash bag! Dispose of all wrappers & scraps in the trash cans near the beach access (or at your rental). Keep Topsail beautiful! Thank you.

Finally, a word about hydration. Very often, people don't realize they are dehydrated until the effects are felt. The strong sun, wind, and activity that comes with a day on the beach can easily lead to dehydration, especially for children. Push fluids often, and take breaks from the sun and surf. Stock plenty of water, juices, fruits and veggies in your cooler to keep your crew healthy.

Don't want to drag a big, heavy cooler down to the beach? Consider renting an Oceanfront vacation rental (click here to see what we have)! Since the beach is just steps away from your back door, you really don't need to bring much to the beach. When it's time for a snack, head back to the kitchen (or keep a cooler on the deck).
